Matchbox The Movie is officially streaming on Apple TV, and fans watching the action-packed Mattel adaptation starring John Cena and Jessica Biel are in for a special treat during the final scenes!
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel’s 11-year-old son, Silas Timberlake, officially made his acting debut with a brief, non-speaking cameo in the movie!
Silas’s Sweet On-Screen Scene
In the film, Jessica Biel plays Aimee, a paramedic and childhood friend of Ted (played by Arturo Castro). Ted and his husband Brian (played by Grant Kilburn) have three children in the movie. While two of the kids appear on screen briefly, their son Mason—played by real-life kiddo Silas—manages to sneak away.
Aimee realizes something is up when her ambulance siren suddenly goes off. She heads over to investigate and finds Mason sitting right in the driver’s seat, playfully pretending to drive the vehicle! It’s a wonderfully sweet interaction between Silas and his real-life mom on screen.
What Jessica Biel Says About Silas’s Multitalented Future
At the New York world premiere of the movie on October 5, Jessica caught up with E! News to talk about the family cameo and whether Silas takes more after her or Justin.
“My 11-year-old is a little bit of both,” Jessica shared. “He plays a small part in the movie at the very end, which is really cute.”
While Silas is dipping his toes into acting, he’s also inherited some of his dad’s musical rhythm. Jessica revealed that he’s been exploring the audio side of things too, noting, “He’s a DJ, so he’s kind of interested in both lanes.”
When it comes to guiding their sons—Silas and 6-year-old Phineas—the power couple is taking a laid-back approach. “We’re just kind of letting him take his time and see what happens and what he really gets interested in,” she explained.
Bringing the Kids to Set
Aside from Silas’s fun little cameo, Jessica shared that bringing both boys to set was an unforgettable experience—mostly because they got to hang out with one of their absolute heroes, John Cena.
“I feel like their brains implode whenever they come to set, especially a set like this, where there’s a hero of theirs that they’re meeting,” she laughed. While Silas was old enough to understand the movie magic behind the action sequences, 6-year-old Phineas was still a bit mystified. “The 6-year-old is still like, ‘What’s happening here? Cannot compute,’” she joked.
As for who the “cool parent” is at home, Jessica previously admitted that Justin usually takes the crown because of the music. But after seeing mom save the day—and sharing the screen with Silas—we think these cool mom points are definitely well-deserved!
