Trolls is a 2016 American animated musical comedy film from DreamWorks Animation, based on the Good Luck Trolls dolls created by Thomas Dam. Directed by Mike Mitchell and Walt Dohrn and written by Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, and Erica Rivinoja, the film follows Poppy, an optimistic Troll who sets out to rescue her friends after they are captured by the Bergens, creatures who believe eating Trolls is the key to happiness. Justin Timberlake voices Branch, a cautious and pessimistic Troll who joins Poppy on her rescue mission despite his doubts that they can succeed. Anna Kendrick, Zooey Deschanel, Russell Brand, James Corden, John Cleese, and Gwen Stefani also lend their voices to the film.
SYNOPSIS
The Trolls are colorful, joyful creatures who have spent years hiding from the Bergens, giant creatures who believe that eating a Troll is the only way to find happiness. Twenty years after the Trolls escape their enemies, Princess Poppy throws a celebration that attracts the attention of the vengeful Bergen Chef, who captures several of her friends and takes them to Bergen Town. Determined to rescue them, Poppy sets out on her own before Branch reluctantly joins her. As the unlikely pair venture into Bergen territory, they encounter Bridget, a kind-hearted Bergen maid who is secretly in love with King Gristle Jr., and discover that their quest may be more complicated than they expected. Along the way, Poppy’s optimism and Branch’s cautious nature begin to complement each other as they face the dangers surrounding them and search for a way to save their friends.
