SYNOPSIS
Eddie Palmer, once a celebrated high school football star, returns to his Louisiana hometown after serving 12 years in prison. Living with his grandmother Vivian and working as a school janitor, Palmer struggles to adjust to life outside prison while dealing with the limitations of his parole and the stigma surrounding his past. His life takes an unexpected turn when he becomes the temporary guardian of Sam, a young boy whose mother Shelly is struggling with drug addiction and an unstable lifestyle. Although Palmer initially has little understanding of Sam or his interests, the two gradually form a close bond. Palmer also begins a relationship with Sam’s teacher, Maggie Hayes, as he attempts to build a more stable life. When Shelly returns and seeks custody of Sam, Palmer is forced to confront his own past and fight to protect the boy he has come to love.
