Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids is a 2016 American concert film directed by Jonathan Demme, documenting Justin Timberlake’s final performances of The 20/20 Experience World Tour at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Filmed over two nights on January 1–2, 2015, the film showcases Timberlake performing songs spanning his solo career while highlighting the musicians, singers, dancers, and horn players who make up his 25-member touring ensemble, The Tennessee Kids. Timberlake serves as the film’s central performer, leading the ensemble through a 90-minute set that combines choreography, live instrumentation, and audience interaction. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2016, before its worldwide release on Netflix on October 12, 2016.
SYNOPSIS
Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids follows Justin Timberlake and his 25-member touring ensemble during the final performances of The 20/20 Experience World Tour in Las Vegas. The film captures Timberlake performing a selection of songs from his first four studio albums, including “Pusher Love Girl,” “Rock Your Body,” “Like I Love You,” “My Love,” “Suit & Tie,” “SexyBack,” and “Mirrors,” along with a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature.” Rather than focusing solely on Timberlake, director Jonathan Demme gives equal attention to The Tennessee Kids, capturing the musicians, singers, dancers, and brass section as they perform alongside him. The concert moves between elaborate choreography, acoustic performances, audience interaction, and intimate moments between Timberlake and his band, culminating in a backstage celebration following the final show.
