SYNOPSIS

Set in an alternate 2008, Southland Tales takes place in Los Angeles three years after twin nuclear attacks devastate Texas and plunge the United States into political and social turmoil. The government expands its surveillance powers through US-IDENT, while a German company develops Fluid Karma, a revolutionary energy technology capable of harnessing perpetual motion. Amnesiac action star Boxer Santaros becomes entangled with Krysta Now, a former porn star turned talk-show host, while twin brothers Roland and Ronald Taverner become connected to a conspiracy involving US-IDENT, Fluid Karma, and a series of politically motivated attacks. Meanwhile, Iraq War veteran Private Pilot Abilene, played by Justin Timberlake, serves as a narrator and observer of the increasingly bizarre events unfolding throughout Los Angeles. As the various characters and storylines begin to converge, the boundaries between reality, prophecy, politics, and celebrity culture become increasingly blurred, while a mysterious connection between the Taverner brothers and a time rift threatens to push the already unstable world toward violence and destruction.
